"Push yourself .Don't settle.Just Live well. Just LIVE."
This quote pretty much defines the spirit of this book which constantly questions how easily we settle in our monotonous routines...how we just want to stick to our comfort zones and never venture out and try things we dream about but find them too audacious to actually live by them.
Jojo Moyes - the author - has defined her characters really well. Louisa Clark (Lou) and William Traynor (Will) take you through a journey like never before...two completely different set of people who have absolutely divergent views about the world and life and how they both compliment each other is something that will stimulate your emotions. You can literally picture their relationship evolving from being complete strangers to friends and eventually to 2 people who are so connected with each other that you can sense what the other is feeling just by looking at him/her.Thats the beauty of the flow which Jojo has created.
"I told him a story of two people. Two people who shouldn’t have met, and who didn’t like each other much when they did, but who found they were the only two people in the world who could possibly have understood each other.”
This story shows us how the right kind of people inspire us to do things which we never think we can otherwise...and how important it is to actually do them in this lifetime...like most of us end up postponing things for a better time - more prepared version of ourselves which never really happens - the story inspires you to take the plunge now.
Jojo makes you fall in love with Lou and Will..Lou for her simplicity and unstoppable attitude and Will for igniting the spark in Lou to LIVE and not just accept things as they are.Their conversations just make you think about your own life choices.
“I will never, ever regret the things I’ve done. Because most days, all you have are places in your memory that you can go to.”
Be prepared for a sad ending ...it's not a perfect story as it may seem from the title or the movie rushes you might have seen...but I loved it...it was far more real and sensible than a perfect ending....it is how things are...and how we as humans behave, feel and act.
"You’re going to feel uncomfortable in your new world for a bit. It always does feel strange to be knocked out of your comfort zone but I hope you feel exhilarated too.”
To sum up, this is a kind of story you would love to read thinking about that one person who might have changed your life for better - he/she may not be with you right now but you'll always thank them for the way they turned your life around!
